Scarring is common after the acne has reduced. Teenagers, usually, go all out to look for treatment. They are justified, as after going through acne, its not really fair if they bear the scars as well. Different types of treatment can be used, as is the case of acne itself.
An essential point to note is that you must be sure skin is clear of acne, so that there is no risk of the acne returning or the skin breaking out. Once that has been assured, treatment can be started.
Blemishes are part an parcel of teenage life, but you can’t blame them for wanting clear skin. |

Alternative approaches to scar treatment are many, but here both chemical and natural remedies dominate the field.
As far as natural treatments go, facial masks are the norm. Sandalwood powder is made into a paste with rosewater and applied on the face. For darker scars, lemon juice( a natural bleaching agent). Cucumber with lemon juice and curd can also be applied.
The thing with this is, all the stuff you use to get rid of the acne or scars are easily available at home.
Most importantly, before attempting any of these treatment methods, the face should be cleaned, even the scars. Cleansing the scarred areas with warm water and a mild soap, prior to treatment exfoliates the skin and opens up the pores, allowing the skin to really breathe. Lack of washing and exfoliation is what causes acne in the first place.
Chemical methods are effective, no doubt about that, but natural methods are a lot safer. Chemicals tend to have a lot of undesirable side effects, something natural methods evade, unless you really are allergic to a certain plant. Plus, natural methods can be easily done at home and cost relatively less than over-the-counter prescription pills and topical creams. |
