Acne is a skin disease, or skin rash, that is
usually associated with teenagers, but it has been found among adults
as well.
Although with all the cleansers, creams and treatments
out there, acne still clings to your skin and getting rid of it
is one heck of mission.
The true problem lies in the fact that people
are too concerned with curing it, when the actual solution is more
about prevention, rather than a cure. |

By following these
five simple steps, you'll get a better understanding of how to prevent
acne effectively.
1. Regular use of facial cleansers. The very first
step you should take to prevent, is to cleanse. Acne (which includes
pimples and other facial blemishes) appears on your skin because
the pores on your face become clogged with oil and dust. Therefore,
any sensible person would agree that the most practical thing to
do would be to cleanse the skin.
However, the problem lies with ordinary soap, as it doesn't help
in clearing excessive oil, but actually causes an increase in oil
production.
The save-guard is to use a special cleanser that will rid your face
of unwanted facial oil, preventing acne growth. A substance called
salicylic acid does a fine job.
Any facial cleanser that contains 2 percent of this substance can
help prevent acne. Salicylic acid not only removes oil and bacteria
but also scrapes away the dead cells or residue that clogs the pores
of your skin. Daily usage of these special cleansers is not required;
applying them 2-3 times a week will suffice.
2. Facial Scrubs. Gentle action facial scrubs need
to be used on a regular basis, as the exfoliating effects help to
get rid of dead cells from the surface of your skin. By using facial
scrubs, your skin will look brighter and more radiant after each
session because black heads will no longer be visible.
3. Benzoyl peroxide. Benzoyl peroxide is another
prevention method that can be used to treat acne, especially acne
scars. Use solutions that contain 5% Benzoyl peroxide at least once
a week. When Benzoyl peroxide is used with the salicylic acid cleanser,
it proves to be a very effective combination.
Two more tips.........
4. Moisturizers. Many teenagers make the assumption
that just because they have acne on their skin, moisturizers should
not be used often. That is completely wrong. The reason is because
most acne prevention cleansers dry up the skin, turning it into
a sitting duck for harmful UV rays. It is advisable to use cleansers
that will not only moisturize the skin but include some sort of
UV sun-block as well.
5. You are what you eat. That statement basically
says it all; you really are what you eat. Don't expect to get beautiful
skin by eating junk food all the time, such as: ding-dongs, twinkies,
Ho-Hos, chocolate bars, etc. A balanced diet is one of the best
options we have to fight acne.
However, our hectic daily lives usually prevent us from thinking
about eating a healthy meal, which is what everyone should start
doing. Start eating more fruits and vegetables and go easy on the
caffeine and smoking; they'll only make matters worse. The best
solution for such drastic measures is to eat fruits for breakfast,
as well as taking multivitamins, which replenish all those nutrients
lost from daily stress.
By being kind to your body and limiting the intake of toxins such
as sugar, fat, alcohol and cigarettes, you stand a much better chance
against your acne and skin problems.
To conclude; the battle against acne is fought on two fronts, the
outside and the inside. You must cleanse the body from the outside,
while at the same time, try to prevent the onset of acne from the
inside. By truly understanding the steps recommended above, you'll
get that beautiful looking skin you've always wanted.
